The City’s Coastal Management Branch has commenced with repairs and construction to a section of the Simon’s Town Long Beach facility today, 11 November 2024. This project will continue until early December, if all goes according to plan. Residents and beachgoers can look forward to improved aesthetics, functionality and safe access to the beach.
The works include layer works and surfacing in the car park as well as repairs to associated infrastructure, such as walkways and seating.
These repairs will focus on the Driegebroeders Road section of Simons Town Long Beach and will require this specific section of the car park to be cordoned off during the works.
‘The team will at all times try to minimise any disturbance and impact on residents and beachgoers. We thank the public for their patience while we carry out this necessary work which will improve the access to the beach and the parking area for all beachgoers to enjoy during the upcoming summer months. The concrete repairs; surfacing of the car park and reestablishment of access ways will make the spot more appealing to all visitors ,’ said the City’s Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Eddie Andrews.
