The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to inform the public of intended roadworks along Saunders Road and Much Binding Road in Wetton. The reinstatement of these roads commenced yesterday, 27 May 2024 and will continue until Friday, 28 June 2024, between 07:30 and 17:00 on weekdays. Some of the work will be conducted on Saturdays, between 08:00 and 13:00.

The work will be done along:
· Saunders Road between Doig Road and Govan Mbeki Road
· And Much Binding Road between Saunders Road and Low Road in Wetton
‘The purpose of this maintenance is to increase the lifespan of these roads in Wetton by rehabilitating the existing road pavement and stormwater infrastructure. The work will include milling and removing existing surfacing layers, replacing existing granular pavement layers at specific locations, resurfacing the affected roads with asphalt, and constructing new catchpits and manholes. Additionally, new kerbing and channelling will be constructed, road markings will be applied, and ancillary works will be carried out,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
